Wednesday: First Day of Conferences

The first conference was held a Mwakibete Evangelical Assemblies of God Church. Pastors, church leaders, and the church members were at the conference. Getting to the church, we a genuine challenge. Heavy rains had washed the roads and left pretty deep and serious “gullies” in the streets. After a slow go through the streets and finding a new way to get to the church we arrived. Our team was greeted in a great way. Bonnie and I discovered that we were the first “white” people to come to the church and that area of the city. The pastor and the church were so welcoming. He was a warm, strong, and humble man Floyd began by teaching about Stewardship and Trust. Bonnie taught about husbands and wives serving together as a team and dealing with specific ways that pastors can encourage women to fulfill their calling in Jesus Christ. Bernard taught on discipleship development in dealing with the practical realities of the church in East Africa and specific ways for discipleship development. Those present responded in very positive way and asked for the team to return. Worship in Tanzania is always a joyful celebration of salvation in Jesus Christ and the hope that is ours in Him. Today was no exception as we sang and danced praising God and affirming our hope in Him.
