Monday: Regional Commissioner and Bibles

On Monday, Mpeli, Bernard, and Floyd woke up early and flew home to Iringa from Dar. We were the only ones on the plane. Once we were back at DBLCH, Bonnie, Bernard, and Floyd finished up the gutters on the classroom building. In the afternoon, we kept waiting to meet with the Regional Commissioner for Iringa region. The Regional Commissioner, Dr. Christine Ishengoma, is an appointee of the President and reports directly to him. She was with the children during Christmas and invited us to meet her when we come. This was a very special time for Mpeli and Neema. The commissioner is a believer and we were able to pray with her. On Monday night, Bibles were distributed to all the children of DBLCH. They were so excited. What a thrill to see them looking up the Bible verses that Bernard Mwangi used to speak with them for worship. This was a very special time for all of us. The children remembered what Bernard had taught them one year ago. We had the best time.
