Thursday: Visiting the Homes

The sun was shining bright when we woke up this morning. Everyone was looking forward to visiting with the children in their homes. Today was Antarctica and South America day. The Bible verse for the day was Romans 15:7: “Accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.” A few extra children found their way to Happy Day today. Each day the group has grown.

The Bible story was Peter’s vision and his mission to Cornelius. The children did a good job acting out the story. In the picture you can see the “angel” wings on the children. Do angels have yellow wings? The angel is holding the sheet of unclean animals. The children are eager to learn the Bible and the stories.

What can we say but “Salsa” for the dancing time with Rebecca. She also was teaching Spanish today. The container with most of her teaching stuff still has not arrived. As a side note, Kenya Airways does not know where it is. Rebecca has done a great job of improvising in her teaching about the different people and cultures of the world . Tomorrow is pinata day.

Lucia and Mady had a less intense craft today. The children really enjoyed coloring special sheets and pens. In Bonnie’s room a second craft was added—penguins. The children had a great time but made a mess in putting their penguins today. Meg kept everyone going with her whistle. Today they jumped rope and played a ball game. Each game during the week has come for the continents that have been studied.

The time that we were all looking forward to came with visiting in the children’s homes. Rebecca and Tatiana got the award for the home fartherest away and steepest hill. Lucia and Mady came back bearing gifts of fresh oranges. Bonnie and Floyd went to the Presbyterian Children’s Home with Bernard. The girls are great and the staff does a great job. The children are so grateful for the visits. A picture of the orphanage is shown. This week the ceiling was being put in the girls dorms. The Kenyan government allows them to open before all is complete. Eighty-two children currently call the orphanage home. A Presbyterian church in California provides support for the orphanage. The also have a strong impact in the community and for the children. Today was a great day in the Lord.

Hard to believe that tomorrow is our last day at Happy Day. The time has flown by.
