Wednesday: Election, Sunshine, and Chopsticks

Election Day in Kenya. All is calm. At the Bible Camp we doubled in size today with the Presbyterian Girls Home coming. Today’s continent was Asia. Lucia and Mady enlisted help from every corner of Happy Day to help with their craft project—Wind chimes. Fishing twine had to be tied to round dowel rods and Floyd and Carol Mwangi were the main tiers. Eventually, Bernard Kabaru joined the action. The children enjoyed Lucia and Mady’s duet.

Rebecca continues to introduce new dances and new understanding of the world beyond Tigoni, Kenya.. Today, she introduced chopsticks representing Asian continent. The children (and even some teachers) got into the action with the chopsticks. The pictures do not do justice to the intensity. (At lunch, we learned that some of the staff had worked with Chinese and learned to use chopsticks.)

Meg had sunshine today by mid-morning for her recreation time. In fact, the temperature got a little warm by lunch time. Some of us developed red faces!

Bonnie taught about the Conversion of Saul The verse for today was John 13:34. The children did a great job acting out the conversion.

For lunch we had lentils, rice, and cabbage again. This combo has proven very popular with seconds by the Americans!

We did not get to visit in the children’s home yesterday. Because of the voting today, we will not get to visit today. The rest of our day was spent working on our materials for the rest of the week, resting, and enjoying the beauty of the Kentmere and the friendship of the staff.

Tatiana had a great experience of going home with Shirley and Carol Kabaru and then to the Koinonia Youth Meeting. They had a great time of worship and just hanging out with each other.
