Saturday: The Safari home begins

Because camp is finished, we had the opportunity to try and sleep a little later today. I say try because the birds started singing at day break! It is lovely and quite loud--So with the "music" and the bright sun sleeping beyond 7:00ish is about impossible!

We had a leisure breakfast. For several hours we sat around our table in the dining room sharing various classroom stories and experiences of the camp and throughout the week. There were differences in the logistics from the previous three years and yet so many of our emotions are the same. The location at Happy Day made the physical work of the camp much cleaner and more orderly. The staff from Happy Day and the Girls Home being familiar with the children understood their capabilities; so our groups were divided more along learning/understanding abilities making for much more cohesiveness within the groups.

The needs of the children are much the same. The love demonstrated by the children and our fellow team members is the same as at the Koinonia location. After prayers of thanksgiving we went to our rooms to clean and begin packing.

In the afternoon we drove to Koinonia. The camp there was led by a group from Texas (friends of our Teleios Partner, Adrian Giorgiov of Romania, Pro-Africa. The team was led by Roger McCasland of ITM (International Teaching Ministries). We wanted to visit with those children and Koinonia leaders we have worked with over the last three holiday Bible Camps. Lucy had made it clear last Sunday she felt disappointment we would not be at Koinonia for this camp. We wanted to assure her we had not deserted her, her team, nor the children.

It was a joy to catch up with what was happening in the lives of our friends there. The children have gotten so big! The little ones like Annette, Joy, and Dennis have gone from being the youngest in our first camp to being Levels 1&2. Some like Victor, Oscar, and Carol have moved on to the Teens Group. How wonderful it is to see their physical as well as spiritual growth over the years of coming here. Their hugs, kisses, and "We miss you, How are you" and other greetings thrilled our hearts. They asked about team members from previous years--Taylor, Ed, Sheila, Michal, and Ashley. After having tea and catching up we made our way back to the Kentmere. We had an early dinner with Meg & Rebecca. Floyd and Bernard took them to the airport at 7:30. They fly out tonight.
