Monday: First Day Happy Day!

Because we have so many pictures to share this will be posted in two blogs. The first blog will be mostly the children. The second blog will show the kitchen and the children after sun glasses had been distributed as a gift for the day.

6 AM and we are waking up to begin the Happy Day Academy Bible Week. Breakfast at 7 AM, leave by 7:45 AM (oops! 7:55 AM). Considering it’s the first day and a long time of registration we begin the Bible Week a little behind. But, by the end of the day everything was working great. The theme for the week is about the five senses: See, Hear, Smell, Taste, and Touch. The theme verse is from Psalm 139:14: “For I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”

The first day 158 children were at the camp by the end of the day. The Happy Day staff are great working with our team. The children are very excited and the staff seems is eager to get started. We ran late today by about an hour due to a late start. But, all went very well.

Each day we give the children something to take home besides their craft. Lucia had book bags prepared for today. You can see how well the smaller children did. They also received the ever popular, sun glasses. They really enjoyed them.

In Bible Story, the younger children had coloring sheets about the story and the older children performed the story. They always enjoy the dramatic. Meg introduced bean bag toss. Rebecca always has cool activities for the children. Like trying to catch the ball while blinded folded—don’t try this at home!

When the Bible Camp was over, the “foreigners” sat down with the Happy Day Staff and reviewed the day. Every one agreed that it was a great day. We are really looking forward to the week. The afternoon and evening held a special opportunity for the team.
