Sunday: Worship, Birthday, and Soccer
After a wonderful night’s sleep, we woke up well rested and
ready for a full day on Sunday. It was a
good thing too because it was a busy day of worship and celebration! Floyd, Zechariah, Attila and I went to
Gornesti for the morning prayer time and worship service. Adel stayed in Reghin and attended church
here.
In Gornesti, we had a beautiful baby dedication. Samuel, Zozo and Alena‘s new baby boy and
LaLa and Esther ‘s little girl whose name is also Esther was dedicated. Esther joined her big sister, Miriam in the
family in early December about 7 weeks early. Samuel was born in January. It was both of babies’ first trip to Church. Zechariah gave his testimony. He did a great
job! Floyd followed him with the morning
message. The worship time closed out
with the Lord’s supper. We had fun
making “ family” pictures with our new little grandchildren after the service.
Sunday lunch was delicious as usual. Adel is a wonderful cook and hostess. Joseph
Kovas was in the area for a weekend gypsy ministry training and joined us. A Swedish woman who had done ministry in
Romania years ago was visiting the area and also ate with us. After lunch we had a birthday party for
Kaleb. He was so excited. Like many
little boys these days he loves Spiderman and for his big day the cake was made
like a web with Spidey in the middle! The dining area was decorated with
balloons and a birthday banner. After
singing Happy Birthday and blowing out the candles over and over we
enjoyed that cake It is so hard to believe he is going to be
four tomorrow! Tempus fugit!
At four o’clock we worshipped in the Reghin church. The
group was small but they are so warm and friendly to us. After the Reghin service we headed off to
Apalina.
The weather here has started to warm up and some of the
gypsies have already left the country to find jobs on farms in the surrounding
countries. For this reason several of the “regulars” were not at the service. I pray for a day when the economy is better
in Romania so they can stay in the country and earn a living. It is so difficult on the families and they
are away from the church and Attila’s spiritual guidance.
Floyd brought a powerful message. Zechariah spoke again
about his walk with the Lord. Today is
the first time he has ever spoken using a translator. It went well.
Attila translated for him twice into Hungarian. At Apalina Adela
Nagy did the translation into
Romanian. Until he finished and sat back
down Zech didn’t realize the difference.
I am sure by the time we leave will be able to differentiate the two
with ease.
Can you believe it?! After such a full day the guys went off
at 9:00pm and played soccer! They
returned home at 11:00 ready and hoping for another good night’s rest.
