Saturday: The Last Full Day

Kaleb must be Southern--Fried chicken Snitzel to go to sleep by

Saturday proved to be a very interesting day for all of us.   The day began as usual.  The Bible Story was the widow with two small coins.   So, all of our games involved using two coins: carrying coin on a paint stir stick, coin toss into different size bottles, Coin bank race, and another form of coin toss.  The game time for the week ended with a water balloon “fight”.   Unfortunately, due to almost 70 balloon flying, no pictures could be taken.

Lunch was very good with chicken soup with homemade noodles, chicken snitzel, potatoes, and pickled vegetables. Kaleb fell asleep at lunch while eating chicken snitzel.   As he feel asleep the snitzel changed from chewing to passifier.   I really believe that boy is Southern.

After lunch, the children headed into the mountains in search of wood for the a bonfire.   Unfortunately, the local mayor said that we needed a permit.   He saw the children gathering wood  and said no way. He was busy collecting “taxes” from people going to the mountains for the weekend.  Apparently, we could not get it today or he could give it to us.  He said that we could have the bonfire without the permit but the local fire people would be notified.  Then, we would have a 10,000 lei fine ($3000).   So, no bonfire after the children worked so hard.

We had our usual rotation of English (playing a game today), Music (fine tuning their sounds for the evening worship and musical chairs with various styles of music), and cafts (making a bank).   In crafts on the younger children wanted to know, where they got the money out of the bank.   He seemed to be far more interested in removing funds than putting any in.

Attila and I headed for  a village market for water melon.   The children really enjoyed it.  After that was the final soccer match of the week.

Dinner was an interesting event.  We had French toast at the main table.  Also, for the children there was “rice pudding”.  We had purchased pudding mix for making it.  The pudding mix did not make it into the “rice pudding” as I am told by a person in the know.   Many children did not eat it.   We took chocolate, cookies, and marshmellows planned for the campfire “Smores” and made chocolate marshmellow cookies.   The children were still hungry so we made “sandwiches of margarine and jam.”   The children ate a ton of these.

The evening ended with worship service that included a song from each of the three choirs: small, medium, and older.  Videos will be available once we reach a place with better internet.  Adel Nagy and Emi Toth gave their testimonies.   Attila spoke to the children.   We ended with prayer time.  Tomorrow the bus comes about lunch.   We say good bye to 56 great children.  We welcome about 50 new ones for a week.

Again, Thank you for your prayers.   God’s blessings be with you.
