We Have Arrived Romania
Bonnie and I had a good trip to Romania. The Delta staff at GSP did another great job. Special thanks to Chris, Mimi, and Ron. Checked our luggage all the way through from Greenville, Detroit, Amsterdam, Bucharest, and Cluj. I learned something. When checked through to Cluj you do not have to pick up your luggage in Bucharest. Tarom automatically just sends it on. This is great. All luggage arrived.
We were met with the Vekas car (affectionately known as the Grey Horse) thanks to David Balint. He took care of everything. Also, Zozo met us in Cluj to ride to Reghin together. He was coming from an Oradea visit. David left us the Grey Horse and we headed on Reghin. We arrived just before 9 PM. So from time we left our house in Greenville until we arrived in Reghin was 28 hours. Not bad.
We arrived to sad news that Mrs. Magdi Vass had passed away. She and her husband were the spiritual leaders of the Reghin church. She was a true Proverbs 31 wife and committed follower of Jesus Christ. Her home welcomed a young man learning to be a pastor almost 10 years ago. She fed him, nurtured him, corrected him, and encouraged him. She was very special to Bonnie and I. A truly gracious woman and so dignified.
Sunday we worshipped and spoke at Gornesti, Filpisu Mic, Reghin, and Apalina. We had a great lunch with Zoli, Abigail, Gershom, Zolan, Copan, David, and Kinchu Dohi. We were introduced to Zoli's cousin. Also met a great couple, Zoltan and Edith.
The work has started on the second floor of the Apalina church. Two large class rooms, bathroom, storage room, and small "apartment"--big enough for a chair and bed. The work goes on.
Apologize for no pictures up to this point. Just forgot the camera.
Bonnie and I participated in the wake for Mrs. Vass. We saw the family. The wake had three messages from Attila, Miklos (Gornesti), and me. There was singing led by a choir from several churches.
Sunday evening ended with a trip to the Reghin days festival for "dinner". That is where I met some new friends who invited me to join them behind the grills to see the action first hand. In the short time that I was there, they cooked a 100 lbs of mici, not to mention chicken breast, pork steak, pork fat (very thick bacon), and sausages. If you have eaten at the market with Attila in Reghin then you have met my friend, Zoli. He has the best grill around. At the Reghin Days there were thousands of people. I counted about 10 vendors serving mici. Zoli's was the only one crowded. There was a line of 20 more people the whole time. The other vendors literally had one or two customers. I have posted pictures of my friends. If you are at the Reghin Market, definitely go get some mici. It's the best and tell them Floyd the American sent you.
