Sunday: Special Day with Roma and Felix Children's Home
Today was a great day of worship. This morning, Adrian Giorgiov and I worshiped with the Roma Church in Oradea (Hungarian Speaking). The ladies are always at the Acas Women's Conference held in October. There were so many familiar faces. I brought special greetings from Bonnie. During the church service the women sit on one side and the men on the other side. I had the women's side for picture taking. I love to hear them sing. This church now has 180 members. Due to the generosity of two American families the current sanctuary was completed--very beautiful church.
In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to be with Adrian and Ruth (they were in Kenya in November/December, 2009). Their girls, Petra and Rhode, are growing. Ruth prepared a great meal with really good desserts. Adrian and discussed the Pro Africa partnerships in Kenya and Tanzania.
In the evening worship service at the First Hungarian Baptist Church of Oradea, we all the special privilege of being joined by the Felix Children's Home choir. The Felix Children's home has two campuses that care for over 200 children. The children live in a family setting with a couple. The families stay together until the children become adults. The children's home is doing a great work. The young man in the photo shared his story. He and his twin were abandoned at birth in an abandoned building. They were found and spend the first two years of life in a hospital. Then, they came to the Felix Children's Home. The work of this home is tremendous. One of the "parents" shared his story (he and his wife). They have served as parents of 18 children. The worship time was a great blessing. Last Sunday I worshiped with the Daily Bread Life Children's Home and this Sunday with the Felix Children's Home. Both use different approaches to caring for the children but the same love, care, and commitment to being family and the development of the children to become all that God in Christ has created them to be.
