Back at Home in Tanzania: We Serve an Amazing God
Kip Miller and I arrived in Tanzania last night testing new travel options for future teams. Rather than Mpeli meeting us by coming all the way from Iringa, arrangements were made for Kip and I to be met at the airport and stay a nearby motel. Everything went well as we were met at the airport by Juma (arranged by Indigo Air). The night was short but good. This morning we had breakfast (outstanding fresh mango juice). Then, to Terminal 1 at the Dar airport to catch a flight to Iringa on Indigo Air. This went very well--DAR IS HOT! DAR IS HUMID! Instead of a day-long drive to Iringa usually leaving early in the morning and arriving 8-10 hours later, Indigo Air had us in Iringa in 1 hour and 30 minutes before 10 AM (ahead of schedule). We were not tired or worn out. This saved almost a whole day.
We looked at the new construction of the secondary school-age dorm and the new baby building. Both exceeded our expectations. We got to meet the newest addition to the children's home--a second new baby. The baby room will be filling up quickly it seems. Also, we greeted the four newest children. The children's home is now full.
Sometimes people might wonder about the use of some past volunteer projects. Included is a picture of the library and the drying shed being used. The library is really amazing with the materials, books, teaching posters, and supplies from past volunteer trips. Now is the rainy season, so the drying shed is full of freshly washed clothes.
