The end of the First Day: Poles and Birthday Celebration

Home sweet Home at the DBL Children's home with Mpeli and Neema Mwaisumbe. After settling in, we had lunch, and headed for the farm. WOW! It is bigger than we thought. In fact, the last purchase of property was an acre larger than we thought. This is going to be a lot of fence. By God's grace after all the travel we were able to also put poles up along one side of the farm. Each pole was hand carried from the road to its final resting place. All holes were dug with the post hole diggers Greg and Becky brought from "Gray Court, SC". Greg was ingenious in getting that accomplished with a duffle bag.

Every one joined in the digging.

Rebecca met with the water well digging manager. He was rather surprised by her knowledge of water and wells. He asked, "Are you a geologist?" " Are you a hyrdologist?" By the end of their conversation, you could see a new found respect and friendship. After all, the had the same GPS gadgets. I say no more. Pray for the well drilling. Because of equipment problems they are behind by two days. Pray for drilling to begin no later than Wednesday.

The first day and really the end of our safari was a surprise Birthday party for Rebecca West. Her 27th birthday she told the children (Ha! Ha! Haaaa!). Anyway she later confessed. They sang happy birthday (in English). All the children had signed a birthday card for her. We had birthday cake for all. It was a morning and evening, the first day and it was good.
