Back in Africa: Kenya and Tanzania

Back in Africa, Floyd Parker and Garry Freeman arrived in Kenya on Tuesday night.   At the airport, a long time friend, Richard (who used to drive for our ministry teams) saw me at the airport and came and greet me.   This proved to be the beginning of a great welcome for a great time in Kenya and Tanzania.
After a long absence, Garry Freeman returned to Kenya to participate in the first graduation of 8th graders at Happy Day Academy, Limuru, the vision of Mary Kabaru.   Garry and his wife, Kitty, joined Mary in the development of Happy Day—they have been partners since then.   Today Garry will be hosting the graduates at the Kentmere Club for lunch and talking with them.    Tomorrow is graduation.   I will be posting pictures for you as they come in.

Floyd had a brief overnight stop in Kenya meeting with Life Change Investments team, Charles and Bernard.   Yesterday Bernard and I circled Nairobi to avoid traffic jams to make it to the airport in time for my flight to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.   For once thanking the Lord for a delayed flight to Dar.   Flew Kenya Airways and they were great.   In Dar, hopped on a Fastjet flight to Mbeya.   Mpeli and Neema met me at the airport.  I have not seen them since January—too long an absence.   Long absences make for great reunions.   We had dinner with Mpeli’s father, James and his new wife—delicious traditional meal—chicken, fish, goat, beans, unbelievably good rice, greens, and fresh avocados.    Today, I travel to home area in Tukuyu to visit with Harry Mwasanjala and his new wife, visit the Queen’s property (Bonnie), and visit with family friends.    I will be eating my way across the home area.   Best goat soup in Mbeya for breakfast, then lunch with Harry, my all-time favorite bananas in between, and whatever else found along the way.    If I can stop eating long enough I will post some pictures.   A couple of days of catching up with family and friends before heading to Iringa to Daily Bread Children's Home and Bread of Life Secondary School.
